There are many Phu Quoc Island hostels to choose from, but which one is right for you? Is your hostel in the right location? Do you want a chilled vibe or a party vibe? If you're confused about which Phu Quoc hostel to choose, you have come to the right place.

I haven't stayed at every hostel in Phu Quoc, but I have chatted with travelers who did.

I'll take you through the best hostels in Phu Quoc, as well as which part of the island you might want to stay. Check out the article below for more information on which part of Phu Quoc you might want to stay.

Getting To Phu Quoc
There are two ways to get to Phu Quoc Island. By ferry or via Phu Quoc International Airport.
Best Places to Stay in Phu Quoc
Whether you’re looking to party on the beach or immerse yourself in natural surrounds with nothing but the sounds of nature, you’re sure to find a hotel, hostel, or homestay to suit your needs.

Best Part of Phu Quoc for Backpackers

Phu Quoc is a bigger island than most people think, and getting around takes time. The average scooter trip to the north or south will take approximately 30 minutes to an hour. Depending on which road you take.

My recommendation is to stay central, anywhere between the Duong Dong River and the airport, which is south of the main city center. This central location will allow you to travel to all parts of Phu Quoc.

South Duong Dong is also where all the action takes place. The best bars, restaurants, and coffee shops are in this area. If you are a digital nomad, this is where you want to be. There are plenty of coffee shops to work from in this part of Phu Quoc.

Best Cheap Hostel in Phu Quoc

S'Bungalow Google Maps location

If you're looking for a cheap hostel, then my recommendation is S'Bungalow Phu Quoc. I spend three weeks at S'Bungalow in one of the twin dorm rooms.

It's a little noisy sometimes with people moving about, but after 11 pm, the place is pretty quiet, and you can get a decent night's sleep.

S'Bungalow is centrally located, with many bars, restaurants (try the pizza place at the top of the driveway), and beach clubs all within walking distance. The property has it's own pool, and the walk down to the beach is less than 5 minutes.

If you book more than one night at S'Bungalow, you can expect to pay around $4.5 per night without breakfast or $7 with breakfast for a 6-bed dorm. 4-bed and twin bed dorm rooms are also available.

The breakfast is excellent for a hostel. There is a good selection of fruit, juices, tea, and coffee. You can also choose from several hot meals in the buffet, including omelets, fried eggs, and more.

My other recommendations for cheap hostels in Phu Quoc:

031 Hostel & Coffee - close to the night market.

Best Party Hostel in Phu Quoc

9 Station Hostel Google Maps location

If you're looking for a party hostel in Phu Quoc, then 9 Station Hostel is my best recommendation. I haven't stayed, but I visited a friend who was staying there. The facilities are awesome, and there's a good vibe at 9 Station.

There is a fair bit of noise at 9 Station, but that's what you're signing up for, right? Not only is there a little party at the hostel, but you're within walking distance of many beach clubs, bars, and night clubs.

9 Station isn't close to the beach, but it's about a 7-minute walk to Sunset Beach Bar, which has an excellent beach for swimming and tanning. Sunset Beach Bar is a great place to watch the sun go down with a DJ playing most evenings.

Expect to pay $6.50 per night without breakfast or $7.50 with breakfast for a 12-bed dorm. 9 Station also has 8-bed, 4-bed, and double rooms available.

The breakfast buffet is average but includes western and Asian style options. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, so you don't have to eat at the hostel.

Palmy Beach Club Hostel Google Maps location

Hostels on the beach in Phu Quoc are hard to come by. The beachfront is prime real estate mostly taken up by luxury resorts. One of those resorts is Palmy Beach Resort.

In 2019, Palmy opened the Palmy Beach Club Hostel, which caters to budget travelers. You get all the facilities of a 4-star resort at hostel prices.

I spent a week at Palmy Beach Club Hostel in December 2019. The hostel was still under construction, so there were some issues. The bathrooms stank, and the lockers in the rooms didn't lock due to poor quality. Towards the end of my stay, Palmy had started to fix these issues, so hopefully, things have changed because it's an incredible hostel.

Palmy Beach Club Hostel rooms are on the 10th floor, featuring panoramic views of the beach and Phu Quoc. There are two pools, one of which is right on the beach with plenty of loungers to tan or relax.

Palmy also has a spa, small gym, restaurant, and pool table. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, but you'll need to catch a Grab or rent a scooter to get to the bars and beach clubs.

Expect to pay around $10 per night at Palmy Beach Club Hostel for a 10-bed dorm room, excluding breakfast.

The breakfast is an incredible spread with everything you would expect from a 4-star resort. The downside for backpackers is it's about $10 per person.

For a great cheap breakfast, turn left at the main road and go over the bridge. The very first restaurant on the right has a big fruit selection and great food. You can eat a big meal for $3 to $5. I used to have egg fried rice and a fruit platter for 130k or $5.60.

Best Hostel in Ong Lang

Hosana Hostel Google Maps location

Ong Lang is about 5 miles (8 km) north of the main city center. With many luxury resorts in Ong Lang, prices at bars and restaurants are a little higher than around the city center.

There is not a lot of budget accommodation in Ong Lang, but I have found Hosana Hostel to be the best. I haven't stayed here, but I did visit the property.

The dorm rooms are airconditioned, and from what I have heard, the beds are comfy too. There is a pool on the property, and Ong Lang Beach is a couple of minutes walk down the road. Also within walking distance of Hosana Hostel are many restaurants and bars.

The best thing about Ong Lang is it's more peaceful than the Duong Dong. Hosana Hostel is a great place to get away from the noise, chill, and relax. This is definitely not the place to stay if you're looking for a party.

For a 4-bed dorm room, expect to pay around $5 per night. Breakfast is an extra $5 per person. Hosana Hostel also has double and family rooms available.

Best Hostel in An Thoi (southern Phu Quoc)

Phu Nam House Google Maps location

If you want to stay in the south of Phu Quoc, then Phu Nam House is the best hostel in An Thoi. An Thoi is close to the cable car, Sao Beach, and the beautiful Trúc Lâm Hộ Quốc Zen Monastery. It's much quieter on the southern side of Phu Quoc, even more so than Ong Lang.

Phu Nam House is a beautiful place with natural surroundings. The rooms feel like something out of a fairytale, adding to a peaceful atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful, making you feel at home.

You have to travel a bit from Phu Nam House to find restaurants, and there aren't as many options as you get up north.

A dorm room at Phu Nam House will cost around $4 per night without breakfast. There are also tents and double room options available. The breakfast is limited to a traditional Vietnamese noodle dish. You have access to a shared kitchen where you can prepare meals for yourself.
